So what's Splodge all about?

Splodge is a children’s process art studio in Somerset West designed for open-ended making rather than guided crafts or paint-by-number activities. Instead of being shown what to create, children are given space, materials, and encouragement to explore their own ideas — working large, experimenting freely, and discovering what happens when creativity isn’t directed toward a single finished result.

 

It’s a studio built around curiosity, independence, and confidence through making.

Process art specifically focuses on the experience of creating, not producing something identical to take home. Children mix colours, build structures, layer textures, and follow their imagination at their own pace, developing real creative thinking along the way.

 

Whether they join us for free play sessions, after-school art clubs, holiday programmes, or themed parties, Splodge offers something different: a calm, thoughtfully prepared environment where children are trusted to make art that is entirely their own.
